After a number of successful dealings with the Ministry of Defence over the past few years, MIW.co.uk recently supplied the RMB Chivenor site with a Halsey Taylor 4881 FR outdoor drinking fountain. MOD staff first contacted MIW’s sales advisers with the requirement of afreeze-resistant outdoor drinking fountain that was built to a high standard and would not compromise performance in adverse weather conditions, before selecting the 4881 FR from our wide range of products.
The RMB Chivenor is a Royal Marines base located in Barnstaple, Devon. The site was originally used as a civil airfield, before serving as a location for weapons training in the 1980’s. Today, several hundred members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and RAF remain on base to carry out training programmes and search and rescue operations.
Regular hydration is essential for mental and physical wellbeing regardless of profession, but owing to the potentially dangerous nature of their work, the Ministry of Defence wanted to cut no corners when it came to the wellbeing of their servicemen. This is why the MOD chose a product from industry leaders Halsey Taylor, and why they entrusted MIW to find them the right product.
Halsey Taylor’s 4881 FR outdoor drinking fountain will remain in top condition, both inside and out, regardless of the bad weather. A thick coat of green enamel paint protects the outer casing, whereas the internal components have been treated for resistance to corrosion and liming, and a freeze-resistant valve prevents damage or malfunction when temperatures drop. MOD staff were also impressed with the unit’s stream height regulator and two-stream bubbler tap, both of which make it easy and convenient to take a quick drink or fill up a water bottle.
