Annesa McConnell and I met with ZSL London Zoo this week to discuss strategies and ideas in their #OneLess bottle campaign and how we could implement these within our local area of Newcastle, spreading the refill revolution.
#OneLess are working towards reducing the nation’s reliance on plastic, one bottle at a time!
In November 2017, ZSL London Zoo, working alongside #OneLess bottle campaign, installed a pedestal bottle filling station throughout numerous locations within the zoo including the Penguin Park, which Annesa and I saw in action on the day of our visit! ZSL London Zoo banned buying and selling single-use plastic water bottles and instead are working to offer alternative uses to bottled water within their facilities, including bottle filling stations and re-sealable cans of water.
Subsequently, our determination to spread the words of #OneLess and help in the revolution on plastic waste has grown, and we are looking forward to working on our plans to reduce the use of bottled water within our campus of Newcastle University.
We are currently speaking to many enthusiastic students and staff alike who also wish to reduce the use of single-use plastic water bottles on campus.
Annesa and I have some more great ideas we are working on and look forward to sharing them soon!
